MODESTO, Calif. -- An autopsy is scheduled Monday for a 3-year-old Modesto girl who was allegedly found dead by her parents Sunday night in the family car.

Police said the parents of Andie Presadio found the girl's body about 6 p.m. Sunday.

The family told investigators that they had returned home from a family outing around 3 p.m. Police aren't sure if the child had been left in the car or if she returned to the car on her own.

"They have six children," Doug Ridenour of the Modesto Police Department said. "They assumed all of them got into the home."

Investigators said they believe the toddler died from heat exposure.
