West Nile - Fight the Bite

HEALDSBURG, Calif. Authorities say a two-year-old boy died yesterday after his mother left him in a locked minivan for more than five hours in 92-degree heat.

Thirty-five-year-old Rena Corban is held in Sonoma County jail.

Police say she was intoxicated when she left the toddler and his four-year-old brother in a van parked in front of their home. The windows were rolled up.

The two-year-old wasn't breathing when the father, Justin Paulsen, discovered the boys.

He was pronounced dead on the way to a hospital.

Police say the four-year-old had crawled out of his car seat and had taken off his clothes.

The temperature inside the van could have reached 120 degrees.

Police are still investigating the case, but say the mother could possibly face charges of child endangerment and homicide.
