BOCA RATON (AP) -- A three-year-old boy is dead today after sheriff's officials say his father left him inside a closed car for more than three hours.

Doctor Dennis Sierra took his son Andres to work at his dental office today, got involved in office work and forgot about the boy,
according to Palm Beach County sheriff's spokeswoman Diane Carhart.

She tells the South Florida Sun-Sentinel today that the dentist remembered his son in the car when a relative called the office and
asked about the child. The boy wasn't breathing and CPR efforts failed, Carhart says.

Officials aren't saying how hot they think it was inside the car. The boy, who would have turned 4 on July 27, was pronounced dead at West Boca Medical Center at 1:27 p.m.

The investigation continues. No word yet on charges.
