INDIANAPOLIS, 12:36 p.m. EST May 3, 2001-- Police are searching for a suspect that they say stole a car with a baby inside and then threw the baby out of the car. The incident happened near 30th and Keystone Ave at a gas station. Police said that the car theft occurred at the gas station when a father gassed up his car, then went inside to pay. The baby was still inside when someone jumped into the car to steal it and apparently didn't realize that the baby was in the car. Police said that the baby was thrown out of the car about four blocks down the road. Witnesses said that the suspect did stop the car. "He (the baby) was shaken up because he wasn't placed out of the car," Indianapolis police officer Mark Hamner said. "The parents said he looked fine and was shaken up, but glad to be back with mom and dad." Police said that the suspect fled south on Keystone Ave. The car was a grey 1985 model Pontiac Parisienne.
