Acy Reynolds, neighbor watched rescuers

While the Tri-state celebrated Independence Day, an Amelia neighborhood was reeling after news that a neighbor's child died Monday.

Police call it a "tragic accident."

Investigators say four-year-old Andy Jones died after he climbed into the family car on a hot, sweltering, muggy afternoon.

His father, who was mowing the lawn, began to look for his son when he realized he hadn't seen him in a while.

Emergency crews were called to the home after when his father found him unconscious.

The child had allegedly gone inside the car to play with his Gameboy.

Neighbors helped perform CPR until emergency crews arrive.

Although the child was taken to a nearby church parking lot where Air Care could land to take him to the hospital, he was never put into the helicopter.

It was too late.

"They were soaking wet when they got out of the ambulance and they were looking down and shaking their heads," said Acy Reynolds, who watched the child's rescuers.

Reynolds said when he saw that, he knew that it meant the child had not survived.

The Clermont County Sheriff's Department is now investigating the case.

An autopsy is planned for Tuesday.
