An infant left
in a hot car for more than two hours Friday afternoon has
died.
Police tell NewsChannel 8 the nine-week-old baby
died around midnight Saturday night. The girl was hospitalized
on Friday after being left in a hot car for about two hours
when temperatures reached 96 degrees.
The child's
parents say they returned home from running errands and each
thought the other had taken the baby out of the car.
"From what I gathered, the mother laid down for a nap
and it wasn't until she woke up from her nap that they
realized that neither had brought the child in," said Tulsa
Police Sergeant Glen Uhren.
The child was rushed to
Saint Francis Hospital in critical condition and we were told
the child had begun breathing on her own. But, authorities say
the child died at the hospital late Saturday night.
