Authorities say an unfortunate accident has killed a Texoma toddler. Friends and family have been comforting each other all afternoon as they learn about the tragic details.

KTEN's Katie Delaune was the scene and the hospital this afternoon. She has more on the story.

There have been plenty of tears and hugs as co-workers at Mazzio's restaurant in Durant learn about the fate of an employee’s son.

Durant police say that at around 3:30 this afternoon, they received a call from the restaurant.

A female employee realized she left her 20-month old in the car for almost three hours.
When the toddler was brought into the restaurant, eyewitnesses say he was not breathing and the mother was screaming for help.

Emergency crews rushed the toddler to the medical center of Southeastern Oklahoma.

He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Police say the mother took her son to a doctor’s appointment then rushed to work and forgot to drop her son off at daycare.

Employees at Mazzio's restaurant are visibly upset and folks who rushed to the hospital came out in tears.

There is no word yet if the mother will be charged, but we'll bring you any updates.
