Child Left In Car Dies
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

The Hanover County Sheriff's Department expects to release more information about the tragic death of a young child. Deputies tell us a 3-year-old girl died after she was left inside a parent's car for several hours on Tuesday.

The girl was found inside the car at the Cool Spring Baptist Church. We're told she was there with a parent who had to take care of some business. The young girl was already in cardiac arrest by the time paramedics arrived around 4:30pm. She was rushed to the hospital but doctors were not able to revive her.

Sources tell 8News the girl usually attended a daycare program at the church.

"Preliminary investigation reveals the child was left inside a vehicle in the parking lot for a significant amount of time. We are at the preliminary stages of this investigation and we will be following through," said Lieutenant Doug Goodman of the Hanover County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators are not releasing the name of the child or parent right now but they expect to have more information later today.
